Fresh controversy has erupted around the estate of the late Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua, with a section of Kenyans questioning the narrative being advanced by his brother, Rigathi Gachagua, over how key properties were distributed.

According to the former deputy president, the will allocated significant assets, including prime properties in the city, to him rather than to the deceased’s own children and widow.

This has raised the eyebrows of some Kenyans and the family of Nderitu Gachagua is seeking the Head of State’s intervention in the property dispute involving his former deputy.

The situation paints a difficult picture to reconcile. How a father with children would prioritize a sibling over his direct heirs in the distribution of valuable assets. For many Kenyans, this stretches the credibility of Gachagua’s claims and has fueled suspicion about the circumstances under which the will was drafted.

Last week, President William Ruto revealed for the first time that he had received a letter from the late former Nyeri governor Nderitu Gachagua’s family seeking intervention and investigations into the late Gachagua’s properties.

In a letter dated Monday, March 23, the late governor’s family has appealed to the Head of State to initiate investigations into what they describe as fraud, forgery, and unlawful interference in the management of the estate.

The family claims that a close relative (Rigathi) has orchestrated schemes to disinherit the rightful beneficiaries of the late governor.

They have raised concerns about the authenticity of the document, claiming it was prepared while Nderitu Gachagua was critically ill.

They argue that the resulting distribution appears inconsistent with both cultural expectations and typical inheritance practices, where children are usually the primary beneficiaries.

The family further points to properties such as hospitality businesses and urban real estate that reportedly changed hands under unclear circumstances, raising questions on why such high-value assets would bypass the deceased’s immediate family.

Supporters of Rigathi Gachagua, however, maintain that he acted within the law and in accordance with the wishes outlined in the will. They argue that inheritance decisions can vary and are ultimately dependent on the intentions of the deceased.

I am praying this shit-fest escalates so that we know how filthy these shits are. In other countries both these cunts would be in jail.

GACHAGUA labels RUTO a “womanizer,” claims he has children out of wedlock,
and MIPANGO YA KANDO just like his late brother NDERITU GACHAGUA

Gachagua has claimed that his late brother, Nderitu Gachagua, had a complicated family setup and, despite reportedly having multiple relationships and children born out of wedlock, his will catered for everyone.

According to Gachagua, his late brother’s will is studied at the Kenya School of Law due to how well it was drafted.

He also accused President William Ruto of attempting to use his brother’s death for political mileage.

Gachagua went on to suggest that Ruto, just like his late brother, has children born out of wedlock and other secret women (mipango ya kando), who could potentially seek a share of his wealth when he dies.

He urged the President to study his late brother’s will instead of challenging it.

The remarks come after Ruto accused Gachagua of interfering with his late brother’s will in a bid to disinherit some family members, claims that Gachagua has strongly denied.
