Hiyo inaitwa Taqiya. Somalis as you see them today are a product of forced subjugation and widespread rape by arabs. THey were raped so heavily that you can see it in their hair, which is a blend of arab and african hair.
Originally, they were most likely of nilotic stock like maasai. That’s why their language is somehow intelligible by around 10-20% with maasai language.
Basically, they were stripped of all their traditions, and left with only their book as their source of traditions. It’s not like they have a choice, their culture was completely eraced and replaced with the book stories of the saudi dessert.
That’s how their culture lost all respect for plants and wildlife, and it has led to the total dessertification of their land

1 million somalis moved to kenya from somalia in the 1990s many settling at daadab. The UNHCR then processed some for resettlement in the US (eg Ilhan Omar), canada and Scandinavian countries. Many remain in daadab and other parts of kenya and the last govt had planned to return them back to somalia but jambas has said they can be given IDs.

It’s not experience. Many other groups like Chinese and vietnamese arrived much earlier than the somalis. Since the 70s vietnamese have used the government assistance program to lift themselves out of poverty and are now one of the richest groups in the US after getting there with nothing but their underwear while escaping the khemer Rouge and Vietcong.
Same case with Filipinos. They started off as domestic workers mopping floors and they now contribute globally to the medical industry with well trained doctors and nurses.
