Vishram, Maraga, tipped to be CJ

Court of Appeal judges Alnashir Vishram and David Maraga and High Court judge Msagah Mbogholi have emerged as front runners to succeed Willy Mutunga as Chief Justice.

The three are among six judges shortlisted by the Judicial Service Commission. Others are Supreme Court judge Smokin Wanjala, former Law Society of Kenya chairman Nzamba Kitonga and Justice Roseyln Nambuye.

The Judicial Service Commission drew up the list yesterday after going through applications for 14 people. US-based Law professor Makau Mutua did not make it, despite presenting a 71-page CV. He is highly critical of President Uhuru Kenyatta and the outcome of the 2013 election.

No GEMA or Kales left in the running ?

US-based Law professor Makau Mutua did not make it, despite presenting a 71-page CV.

Hihihihihihi!! The selection panel realized that this verbose theoretician could single-handedly cripple Kenya’s judiciary with rulings and arguments that are written like academic essays and have nothing to do with Kenyan law.

na hii infamous CV ilikuwa page ngapi hakika? mara 70, mara 72 sasa ni 71…looks like a shifty-paged CV…

if he submitted a 70 page CV, no wonder he lost out. hata kama unaitisha kazi kubwa aje, who has the time to flip through a 70 page CV? i wont make it past page 3.

mimi na support smokin wanjala. we need someone who has already seen first hand what the job involves. the rest will try too hard to impress and make disastrous decisions.

kwani you think they have just been “uncocooned”?

Ibhave a feeling Vishram is gonna make it. Remember kibaki appointed him, before he was rejected.

And Smokin it is!!!..reliable sources…

Smokin Wanjala apewe hio kiti

The only Question I’d like to ask Wanjala, is why it took him so long to quit from KACA, which was then headed by Ringera.
Smokin only quit when the signs were clear that the ship was sinking fast.
To me, that act tinted his image, other than that, all the best to him.

Lets await vetting first then know who will be the best two. Smoking Wanjala Team Mafisi senior member has skeletons in the closet due to his night adventures that may come up to haunt him. He has severally been caught at alco-blow roadblocks driving himself with the company of young girls and he was rescued each time. He keeps on dismissing his guards and driver to embark on his adventures. He may have a strong activists background but more importantly he is a good guy and a humanist. He chickened out on the supreme court judges retirement ruling but i think he was playing safe. I wouldn’t mind him but seriously doubt his leadership skills in running the whole Judiciary effectively and visionary. Nzamba Kitonga doesn’t have many friends in parliament, he is biased and pro-activist therefore he will not be picked by the vetting panel. From the shortlisted candidates clearly JSC wants an experienced insider with many years at the bench, tried, tested and has handled administration of justice which former cj mutunga failed miserably. This has to be Justice Vishram time. The only challenge might be Justice Maraga and Justice Roslyne. It all depends on the vetting process which will be live. Remember JSC will give President Uhuru one name for him to appoint as CJ just as a procedure but not consideration.

More importantly today ahmednasir is done, his backdoor key that mutunga gave him is gone. He will never again determine which of his close judges gets his cases (end of favourable injunctions) and soon even his bullying of registers will end. He may have won in orchestrating retirement of Justice Rawal and Justice Tonui but ultimately he has lost as well. The mullahs (muite-mutunga-ahmednasir) project macow as cj failed.

Good eye @spear ,now we wait.

interesting insight

…tested and has handled administration of justice which former cj mutunga failed miserably.

LOL. Juu he thwarted Rawal and Ndungu’s schemes?? Ama because of the many times the courts overruled unconstitutional jubilee sponsored laws??
Huo uchungu unaeleweka:D

Vishram will get it. He has close ties to the first family.

  1. sssssssssSmoking… will be the next Thief-Justice of the Republic of Kenya. @admin anipatie star akiwa sworn in.
  2. Its Visram. Visram. Visram. Not Vishram or… Viceroy.
  3. You do might not think he deserves it - I don’t know the guy- but Smokin Wanjala ndiye atakuwa Thief-justice.

Interestingly the most qualified C.J candidate was actually Justice Ojwang and he didn’t go overboard with a 71 page CV. He wasn’t shortlisted and he hasn’t complained so macow better chill. LSK asked JSC to explain the shortlist decision. Like really…to many activism infront of cameras. Isn’t LSK adequately represented in JSC. This problem of only seeing sense in opinions that suits you and none if it doesn’t is why JSC is removing a lot of candidates from the list.

71 page cv is trolling. Where would you get a job with that kind of a paper? Anybody who clearly puts on character when talking can never be trusted

Smokin Wanjala only thinks of where to get his next pussy, not a bad choice when compared to Mbogholi Msagha, the most corrupt judge during Mom’s time.

Those who thought that JSC was just looking at the CV in picking there choices is in for a rude shock.

Unsuitability on the grounds of leadership, integrity and ethics are some of the reasons the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has cited for the elimination of eight applicants for the post of Chief Justice. A shortfall on personal attributes that cover temperament, character and communication skills as well as failure to provide all the requisite documents also saw the eight knocked out of the running for the top Judiciary job.
