Why is it that people still say that Judas betrayed Jesus?
Judas never betrayed nobody! He NEVER betrayed nobody! How can a person who was as famous as Jesus was, someone who was as popular a celebrity as celebrities come, be said to have been betrayed by his most trusted confidante?
Jesus himself ought to be blamed for his own death, ie, if he actually died the way the gospels say! For he had chosen to live his life dangerously, even endangering the lives of his followers! You can’t walk all across the place preaching treason and expect leniency from the powers that be! No, you can’t! And yet that’s exactly what Jesus did! And that was not all!
He would traverse Judea, kwa mapana na marefu, radicalising the youth and inciting them to rebel! Yeah, he did that! He worked like today’s Alshabab(and I’m trying to be civil here). He recruited several directly and instructed the recruits to net others, as many as they could! Some had high flying careers, some were family men, even harlots were brought into his fold!!
Surely, a man like that, by whatever means, is by no means incognitus! Everybody in that country must have known him! And you tell us that Judas betrayed him? Oh, please!
And this was really unbearable to poor Judas! He could not stand the stigma of being labeled a traitor. He was so loyal to his master, he could die for him! And that’s exactly what he did!
So today, over 2000 years after, stop spreading that lie already!

Another point is how Jesus predicted the betrayal and did nothing to prevent it. Him being a deity meant his prophecy cast Juda’s fate to stone and set a determined moral path for him. Judas could not have refused to betray Jesus even if he wanted to.
In short, Judas had no free will when he did what he did.
The poor guy ended up being one of the biggest villain in the history of mankind without a choice.

Judas just did what a normal politician does. Grab the corrupt opportunity. If it’s in the current economic, and take judas=gavana pablo/sonko/munya etc, they could have taken that 40million to seal the deal. In short, judas had a price.
You can’t say that about Judas, @byro! He was one very honest fellow. No one can say for sure whatsoever that the money he received from the Pharisees was his payment for pointing out Jesus! Jesus was already well known! And Judas was the treasurer for Jesus and his entire group! There’s no record in the gospels where it is written that he ever misappropriated their funds!
