A Staten Island teen has been accused of decap**ating his mom’s boyfriend and putting his brain inside a blender.
Nineteen-year-old Damien Hurstel has been charged with the brutal m*rder of his mother’s boyfriend, Anthony Casalaspro, inside their Staten Island home earlier this month.
Police responding to the West Brighton residence discovered a gruesome scene, with Casalaspro’s body showing signs of severe mut*lation.
Hurstel was arrested at the scene without incident after his younger sister reportedly discovered the body and called for help.
According to police sources cited in multiple reports, Hurstel allegedly attacked Casalaspro with a meat tenderizer and knife before decap*tating him.
Some accounts from law-enforcement insiders claim he went further, using a spoon to remove parts of the victim’s brain and placing them in a blender.
These particular details have circulated primarily through tabloid outlets and have not yet been independently confirmed by official court documents.
Hurstel’s defense has emphasized his long history of serious mental illness, including schizophrenia.
His mother told reporters that her son had been under psychiatric care and taking medication, but his treatment changed shortly before the k*lling.
She has since spoken publicly about feeling powerless after losing access to his medical decisions when he turned 18, blaming gaps in the mental health system for the tragedy.
After his arrest, Hurstel was hospitalized with a reported blood infection and placed on s**cide watch.
He has pleaded not guilty to second-degree mrder, manslughter, and weapons charges, and is undergoing psychiatric evaluation while awaiting trial.
