US Halts Funding for Haiti Security Mission

The US has frozen its $13.3 million contribution to a UN fund supporting the Kenya-led security mission in Haiti, the UN confirmed.
This move aligns with President Trump’s push to cut foreign aid.

Haiti’s capital faces worsening gang violence, with over 5,600 deaths last year.
The UN warns of a potential collapse without more funding and personnel.
So far, just 800 of the planned 2,500 security forces have been deployed.

The US had already sent $15 million to the fund and over $300 million in direct aid under Biden.
Haiti remains in crisis, lacking a president or parliament.
