It was supposed to be a strategic training of skilled workers for the govt to serve the country. Selecting the best minds and training them and later on to be absorbed into the govt workforce. We strayed from this course when universities started offering courses that are irrelevant others were duplicates just so that they could enlarge and create employment. Then they found out they can make more money through parallel programs to compete with private universities. Secondary schools then went on to cheat to pass more student into the universities, hii pesa ikulwe kabisa.
Therefore, I think we should go back to the original plan, govt should only fund those student it is willing to employ.A few best student in this and that field and having sworn they will work for the govt for a certain period of time to payback tax payers money.
So should the universities be closed because the current govt has frozen hiring of civil servants?
