Undergraduate Scholarships for Needy Kenyan Students

Hi talkers,
I have been sponsoring an orphaned boy for secondary school education. He’s now in form four, and is an A material. His interest is to study medicine, preferably outside the country. Am appealing to those of you with info regarding scholarships for such to share the information.

Asanteni.

That is good but if I am being sponsored I would not want to burden my sponsor with my wishes to study abroad.

However, be on the lookout for Government scholarships that are advertised by Kenya’s ministry of education around April/may of every year. The following governments often dish out scholarships Russia, Brazil, Cuba, Algeria, Japan, China, etc

Try the local scholarships first. He can always go abroad for postgraduate studies

Medicine = Turkey.
Very competitive, free accommodation, state of the art facilities, urban medicine etc etc.
Once there he can also choose to do his masters while there before he comes back. There is direct specialization for graduates.
Check out the Turkish Embassy for the scholarships.

Ngoja hizo results ya A apate…then i can direct you kwa jamaa najua…but kusoma majuu is not cheap or easy so nilazima uwe tayari kumlisha ,nyumba etc kabla ya ajiweze…that can take years
Kama uhapo juu…ni afadhali asomee huku kwanza majuu aende masters

DAAD do not accept first year students, but second and third year students who will be in their third and fourth year during their stay in Germany.

This one is not transparent. I applied for his secondary school scholarship. They didn’t acknowledge, follow up or even send a regret. I think it’s because his name betrayed him.

aiiiiii???

How else do you explain it? He is an orphan, as in both parents dead. Educated by the community in primary school. All relations are poor. He got A- in class eight. And even with all that, Equity didn’t as much as invite him for an interview to assess his worthiness. I wonder who qualify for their scholarship.
But his name starts with an “O”.

Did you try the other one run by Family Bank? I have found it more transparent.

I did know about Family Bank Foundation then. A bro to this boy got the Family bank scholarship this year.

I agree Family bank is more transparent.

Ahhhh…did he lead in the district? I mean, Was he the first in his District?
The girls I know mmoja is a Luo(I don’t have to hide this, do I?) the other a Kyuk. The Luo girl led in the district., she got both parents but couldn’t afford. The kyuk girl is from a single parent family…really really poor…they both deserved it.

Maybe twas just bad luck to yo boy. There were others more needy who had passed zaidi

Keep an eye on this site http://www.scholars4dev.com/category/field-of-study/medicine-scholarships/ . Lots of scholarships there. If i were him i wouldn’t just focus on medicine only. Once he gets any scholarship, depending on which country offers him one, terms and conditions and how hardworking he is, he could get a PR and he can do medicine later on or maybe get a job on the side and do a double degree.
