Evening came. The three strong Luhya men got
home to find spaghetti and a ka stew waiting for
them. They thought that it was an appetizer before
being served the main course. So they swallowed all
the spaghetti and the ka stew without even
chewing in two mouthfuls and waited for the
chicken, ugali, greens and tea to be served.
But the girl was just watching television.
Wesonga asked her where their food was.
“But si you have already eaten?” she said.
“Eaten? Eaten what?”
“Spaghetti.”
“Spaghetti is just a snack like a sandwich.”
She admitted that she used the money to get a
manicure and to contribute to her chama.
The three men wailed. They gnashed their teeth in
anguish and turmoil. They wore sackcloth and
covered themselves in ash as they tearfully sung
and mourned, and cried out to God to just kill
them because they had no more hope left, no more
will to live.
Now the girl is sitting outside contemplating the
future of her relationship.
And the men are sitting inside contemplating the
future of their stomachs.
