I tried that code a couple of days ago when safaricom had offer free 4GB for 78 hours usable on 4G only and since the 4G reception was sketchy i used the code to force 4G ole wangu ,people have been complaining niko mteja on Safaricom luckily its a dual sim (Nokia 5) and they could reach me on Airtel instead.But this has been resolved after i upgraded to Android 8
on safaricom you can’t call send or receive txt messages when you set your preferred network type to LTE ONLY…
It depends with the phone and not the service provider.

Dont support calls on 4g, the call automatically switches to 3g
So if you put it to 4G only calls won’t go through
*#31# for diagnosis,… ama u go to call barring option under call settings, check if outgoing/incoming calls have been activated,… if so deactivate.
