DS is really just bad luck. An unlucky roll of the genetic dice as it were. If a zygote ends up with 3 of any chromosome complications develop during development and a miscarriage occurs. However, if that chromosome is no 21, tough luck. The baby will generally survive since the chromosome is the smallest and causes fewer complications. Result, DS.
Armed with knowledge, you need to try to avoid DS as much as you can.
Scan both your families for members/relatives with DS. Kama wako, you should seriously consider adopting.
If you’re an older woman, you’re at a much greater risk of producing a DS baby. Wachana na baby fever and adopt.
If you can, test the foetus for DS early on. Probably not advisable to share info with your relatives, they’ll just pressure you with their sh*t. Make your decision alone ama nyinyi wawili tu.
Maybe cruel to say, but how is it humane to allow a DS baby to reach full term knowing the life they will lead?
