The thing about this project is that it is going nowhere, when Uhuru launches projects that can’t be followed up or quantified I’m always in doubt. If you are producing such small numbers of guns in a year, what are the employees doing the rest of the time? Sounds like another way of creating jobs for known people or their kids. This is the same idea as the project to manufacture digital licence plates, it is something that will benefit a few and the rest of the country will soon forget.
P.S Why that location!? Can’t it be located in Konza? (if that is still a thing). Isn’t the government trying to decongest Nairobi?
What do you Kenyans want?
Mkisikia we are importing stuff mnapiga kelele. Mkisikia we are producing the stuff locally kelele. Mkisikia the stuff is not available in the market kelele. Mkisikia we have more stuff than needed kelele. Mkisikia we have scarcity of stuff kelele.
Reality on the ground is that for this country to develop we need to be producers and exporters. For production we must start somewhere. Atleast a brand new industry has been established in Kenya. All that we need to do is to support such industries and vote for leaders who will expand them.
Atleast we have started the journey. Lets focus on sustaining the momentum and not being critical of everything the govt does.
Juzi NMS opened a few hospitals in Nairobi and Kenyans were all over criticizing, govt decided to vaccinate kenyans from Corona free of charge…suddenly kinakuliwo.
Because Konza is a technology city and its still under construction. In future if smart guns will be a thing then most likely the ‘smart’ components of the gun will be designed and manufuctured in Konza but the final assembly will still be in Ruiru.
An enabling environment. We dont want government factories. The government should concentrate on education healthcare electricity water housing and we will do the rest
We started somewhere several decades ago and most factories were closed during Jubilee era. We dont want the government to build factories. they should instead create an enabling environment
Sad really. Hiyo account iko London you say, am wondering if we African men are mental eunuchs
How can we accept to let foreigners come and loot our best resources. Who owns all these 5 star hotels dotting this bloodclot… Naskia in Laikipia kuna a lodge that goes for 1.6m/night. Sisi tunabaki tu waiters, groundsmen and puffed up ‘managers’
Enabling environment is good but there are some things government can kick start because govt can bring in huge amounts of capital to start projects. Which individual locally will pour 4b to start a factory here without foreign money? NASA is a govt agency, it has enabled hundreds of companies to invest in aerospace. What if this gun factory creates more work for metal and chemical companies?
The poster child of rapid industrialization is China, alot of the Chineese companies you hear are parastals e.g CRBC whose parent company is the largest construction company in the world employing hundreds of thousands of Chinese and people where their projects are. Where would China be govt layed back and did no investments to propel their industries?
If that is the cases then he should have supported our companies like kenya railways Kengen Telkom and others to produce something. AT least they produce products that are consumed by many
