Namuonea huruma sana. Huu upumbavu ni wa watu wachache ambao wanaona kutembea duniani kidogo kwapaswa kuwabadilisha kuzungumza Kingereza, ilhali kile Kingereza safi Afrika chasomeshwa Afrika Mashariki. Lakini asiyejua maana haambiwi maana. Intelligence can’t be camouflaged, it shines through simplicity, but if you try to show that you know, it always becomes publicly clear that you don’t know.

Elders… Jameni!!!
‎
‎I’ve read the comments and one thing is clear… Mwafrika ni mtu akona wivu.
‎
‎I was told that whenever you speak a different language, try to speak it the way the natives do. Sound like them.
‎
‎If you speak English with a heavy Kikuyu or Kamba or Luo accent, just leave it. The madam is speaking something close to English, while the man is speaking proper English, see the difference.
‎
‎If you choose to speak Dholuo, then speak it like a native. The same applies to other languages.
‎
‎Ingelikuwani mzungu anazungumza kiswahili, comments zingekuwa tofauti sana.. But juu ni mwafrika…
‎
‎Wacheni wivu. Huyo mwanamke ni wivu tu ilikuwa mingi.

… Let’s talk about Arsenal FC.

Put some pegs on your nose and talk normally if you want that accent.

Umewahi ona British national akijaribu kucopy Kikuyu ama kimasai ili aringie wenzake Kwa Mbunge la kwao.

The wheel was invented around 3500 BC in lower Mesopotamia but in 2025, African baboons still let their wives carry heavy loads on their backs. You wonder what is stopping Africans from reverse engineering Chinese water pumps. Africans have copied kissing, dog style, blow jobs, halloween and such other rubbish but somehow don’t have the presence of mind to copy technology. Hata toothpick tunaendea China. Ngoja uone nyani ya mwituni ikikuja kusema eti China wako na competitive advantage juu wako na bamboo forests. Na ukimuuliza what about plastic combs and shoes that we also import atakutusi na mama yako.

Hehe, nonsense, Tapeli Mkuu. Hakuna wivu hapa, I would hate to sound like that, na si kwa ubaya. If you’ve interacted with other non-African speakers of English who are neither British or American you’ll understand why i say this. As you might guess, some of us do write and speak the language expertly, but you will never be more American than the American. They know you are not a native speaker and they do expect an accent when you open your mouth. That doesn’t however mean you should sound ridiculous even if you have an accent. In fact you end up sounding quite unschooled–and not funny at all.
I’m sure @DukeOfKabeteshire , @KuwaitBabe , @mangele or @applebee100 will make you understand

Sasa umeharibu maneno, elder @applebee100 speaks with a strong Kikuyu accent ya pale NDUMBERI, much like @Wakameat jamaa ya slaugheter huyo, so you have to replay his words in your head to understand him. He will say “next erection”, instead of simply saying like a junguu, “Next election”.

I’ve never heard him speak, but the reason I mentioned those elders is I know they’ve met all kinds of people and they know educated Kenyans are generally good English speakers, without affecting some funny accent from the streets. Do you know the African American lingo wannabes ape is really a product of poor education?

I think they took the poor bugger up a high-rise building and the man actually fell for it. :joy:

@sokwemtu atakuja akidai kuongea ki bongo my fren, atakuja akiongea kama DIAMOND platinum. Akiimba wimbo za huyo jamaa na accent yake ya riverroad. Sasa shida si hio hata… kaka SOKWE huwa anavuta maneno juu ya kutumia glue akiwa mless.
