The Chairman of the National Muslim Council of Tanzania known as BAKWATA finally voiced its concern about the jailing of the UAMSHO muslim clerics for those many years without them being formally charged in court and the torture and inhuman acts they have been subjected to…and also the jailing of many more muslims of unproven terrorism charges…this was after Edward Lowassa the former prime Minister and now CHADEMA opposition leader had asked the Muslim leadership to rise up and demand the release of the clerics
