A stunning Greek island with a dwindling population is offering to pay families £450 per month if they move there.
Antikythera, located between Crete and Kythira, is even throwing a free piece of land into the deal so newcomers can build their own home or even a business.
The island is 20 square miles and has just 24 permanent residents, with the population increasing to 40 in the summer.

Many younger people who grew up on the island have now moved elsewhere in Greece, which also means Antikythera has an ageing population.
But it is hoped that this new scheme, which is being sponsored by the Greek Orthodox Church, who will pay the stipend for three years, will attract young residents with families.

Mayor of the island Andreas Harhalakis told Greek website iefimerida.gr: 'We need young families, large enough to make Antikythera alive and full of children’s voices.
‘I have received at least 15 phone calls from large families facing financial problems due to crisis. I tell them to come here to see the place and host them and if they like it, to stay in Antikythera too.’

Jobs that are available to newcomers on the island include fishing, building and baking.
However, there are very few shops in Antikythera and there isn’t a cash machine or bank.
Those wanting to live on the island will have to go through a careful selection process, which will give precedence to Greek nationals.
