Not much difference. Mahali yoyote kuna keja ya mabati au kibanda hapo nje bado ni slums. Mahali huwezi tembea nje saa saba usiku ni slum. Mahali unasumbuliwa na traffic ya watu wakipita hapo nje hiyo ni slum. Irrespective of what you pay. 35K should get you a private house with ample space ya watoto kuchezea hapo nje.

Leafy suburbs?? Leafy burbs hukuwa low density minumum land subdivision 1/4 acre at entry level. Huko ni kijiji but enjoy the rural lifestyle.

Hiyo nyumba ya mabati ni zile zimewekwa kwa plot iko empty ndio grabbers wasimeze mate nayo. Alafu huku kuna street lights mingi, juzi vile kuliflood tao nilirudi nyumbani 3am and I was safe and sound. As for the levels of human traffic, this place has a good level, at least watoto hutoka kidogo kuride bikes and stuff. Hawako indoors the whole day kama wale wa Runda. You need some small level of human traffic for socialising. Plus the houses have gardens msee. Ndio hii yangu:

Look at the photo I just posted. Ongeza nyumba nyuma yake, that is a quarter. Plus it is only 30 minutes away from CBD in normal daytime conditions going by matatu, si mbali sana.

You have actually upgraded but not to the level of leafy suburbs. For leafy suburbs, you should see more trees than anything else. The roads should be wide and everything screams privacy. You should walk for one kilometer before meeting a person on foot or bicycle. Every gate should have a top security company label or police guards. The only vehicles you should meet are fuel guzzler 4×4 and German sedans. No matatus, Ubers or noisy nduthis around

I grew up in those settings and I can tell you it has its drawbacks. Socialisation is limited and you need two cars to be able to go anywhere conveniently. Costs zinapanda hadi zinafanana na first World. It’s nonsensical to have first World expenses in Kenya. Better to take advantage of the low cost of living here by hunting fair deals like this one
