They say they like Trump because he says it as it is. The “it” appears to be widely flexible:

Yesterday, the “it” was very different:
“His country does love him. His people, you see the fervor. They have a great fervor.”
Trump clearly does not say it as it is. He says what he thinks the people want to hear on that day. That is the textbook definition of the word “demagogue”.
