Yeah, but western powers are also OBSESSED with image. For example the US has been tacitly helping the kurds with weapons and legal backing at the UN where they have prevented them been declared a terrorist organization. while they have done so for their selfish interests, to steal syrian oils, the kurds have benefited a great deal by not being dead
it can be argued the US greed for oil made the kurdish fight against extermination by their muslim neighbors, who are always trying to exterminate any non-muslim possible even though the kurds have mostly been converted to muslims by their muslim neighbors who still hate them anyway as they are not muslim enough owing to their integration of suffism
