Treasury Bonds

How are the semi annual dividends calculated.

Let’s assume I have a:-

A. Treasury bonds of Kshs. 400,000 at an interest rate of 13.861 valid for 20 years.

B. Treasury bills of Kshs. 400,000 at an interest rate of 9.71 valid for 1 year.

For those in the know, take me through the calculations to what will be CBK payouts.

Si you will be getting 13.861% of your 400k every year, paid twice. If your dividends is X, then 0.5x in june and 0.5x in dec. Some bonds you pay tax on the dividends paid, some are tax free

Calculator ya bills iko kwa website ya cbk. 400k you will make 30k in one year

Can someone educate me. What are the cons of hizi treasury bonds? Will i have to go thru hell to collect my interest?

Pesa kidogo sana hii afadhali biashara na hiyo pesa.

Ubaya ni kwamba if you have a sudden need for your cash, kutoa before the stipulated time will incur you very heavy penalties.

A 400,000x13.861/100=55444
55444/2=27722 bi annualy
10% witholding tax
27722x(100-10)/100=24949.8

Afadhali hata Sacco shares. The dividends are higher

A 400,000x13.861/100=55444
55444/2=27722 bi annualy

what percentage does your sacco give

13.5% on deposits and 17% on capital shares

Which sacco is that?

Metropolitan

thats quite high how do they manage considering they give out loans at 12%

Stop lying sir! All saccos give dividends against shares, not deposits.

Deposits are also called ordinary shares

They have invested immensely

I didn’t even know you can pull your money before the stipulated period. First time I have heard of this.

Dividends are only issued on profit making seasons.

Ghasia my Sacco has been giving me dividends constantly since 2008
