It’s ironic: Volkswagen spent 2016 battling a huge scandal over cars it rigged to cheat on emissions tests. And now stands a decent chance to pass Toyota for the title of world’s biggest carmaker for the year. Booming business in China helped Volkswagen increase its sales to 10.31 million vehicles last year across all its brands, which include Audi, Porsche and Skoda, the company said Tuesday
Toyota Motor Corp. lost its title as the world’s best-selling automaker to Volkswagen AG, snapping the Japanese company’s four-year reign, as demand for its flagship Camry sedan waned in the U.S. and sales in China expanded at a slower pace than the overall market. Toyota’s global sales, including its Hino Motors Ltd. and Daihatsu Motor Co. units, rose 0.2 percent to 10.2 million vehicles in 2016, the Japanese automaker said on Monday. That fell short of Volkswagen’s record 10.3 million cars, trucks and buses, a 3.8 percent gain.
Interesting that Honda sells more cars in America than homegrown FiatChrysler. Also all those Chinese companies nobody has ever heard of beating household names like Subaru and Mitsubishi
I suspect that thing is a guzzler due to the old engine. I have a friend of mine who drives an ooooold little Daihatsu and he always jokes that his car consumes more fuel than a Mercedes
Ndio ni guzzler but I like the driving position/view, suspension and seats are comfy AF…plus its pure old school mechanics, no complicated modern-day electronics, fewer thing to go wrong!..na its been in the family for 38yrs now!!!
meet in Nairobi ama? Clean enough for a 38yr old car…original Blaupunkt sound system etc etc…floor mats, seat covers, dashboard & center console ndio zimebadilishwa.
The 405 reminds me of the late Bishop Alexander Kipsang’ Muge. I always remember the pic in the papers of the mangled wreckage, a light blue KAA 405 S.
