Too many kiosks coming up at Lavington shopping centre - the leafy suburb is no more

Kiosks mushrooming on all road reserves hapo kwa lavington shopping centre. Matatus wameweka stage outside lavington mall creating terrible traffic mess. Hawkers kwa the stage selling everything mpaka mutura na smokies, jaba. Boda bodas everywhere. The leafy suburb is gone.

Ongeza the sky scrapers coming up and clubs…kama masonko ni werevu…watoke nje ya kanairo…the form another high end estate… Nairobi will be like Detroit Michigan when the elites leave the city and the chokosh invade it.

That leafy suburb vibe can only be found in a few other places:

Limuru

Nyeri

Nyahururu

Murang’a

The difference is that Murang’a/Nyeri/Nyahururu are too far from Nairobi. Limuru being closer is the best place to build a home in my opinion.

Bora usijenge karibu na peasants coz wao ndio watakuhangaisha. Unafika places kama hizo…mna set up controlled community.

Dynamics za mayuu na za mtaani ziko different sana. I really don’t expect properties within Nairobi to start depreciating like they did in Detroit, which was doue to businesses moving out of the city to the suburbs, which in return starved the city of Detroit revenue.

Real owners wa Nanyuki wanaishi huko na wanakam ku visit watoi st Andrews Turi twice a week waki fly ma chopper. They are the same guys who fly from Nanyuki and park their choppers at The Waterfront Mall in Karen to shop.
Hata msito Humphrey Kariuki used to operate in Nairobi from Nanyukia na home yake ilikua na hanger yenye ilikua ina house mandege zake saba excluding two choppers.Watu wa nanyuki wako na lanes wazimu.

You don’t even need a chopper. A single engine Cessna 172 can get you to Wilson from Nanyuki in about 1 hour. Alafu you can commute from there to anywhere in Nairobi to run your errands.

After all, wtf are you doing in Nairobi during the week? Just fly in weekends and fly back to Nanyuki/Nyeri/Naromoru or wherever you come from.

Still, a home closer to Nairobi in places such as Tigoni/Limuru comes in handy. Kiambu locals were foolish to start selling their land to outsiders. They’ll forever remain priced out of their native land. If they hadn’t sold, Nairobi would have found a different side to expand towards (maybe na huko Kitengela and Ruai)
