Kuingia harusi kutoka matanga
Some of these American black men are just crazy. The intensity of violence is at a nightmarish level. If a woman is threatened once, she is playing with her life to wait to get hit, coz the guys know they’re heading to prison anyway. This woman could have given herself a chance at life by pulling furniture against that door and buying some minutes, even as she called the cops. Since the man was breaking in, her fate was sealed. It was to be the fight for her life, and her grandma’s.
They are frustrated in life generally so anything small like a breakup can send them over the edge. This guy was 11 years older and he still had no sense.
In fact family life is in crisis mode. The relationships themselves don’t make sense, because when you have a community where men break into women’s homes with guns to kill them over a relationship gone wrong, it’s a real cause for alarm. It means there is no emotional support of any sort, no means of sorting out misunderstandings. Men no longer understand women, women no longer understand men, and it’s a running gender war which only psychologists and counselors mediate in, usually unsuccessfully. Ikifika mambo ya kuitiana mapolisi ndio msiuane juu ya ‘mapenzi’, hapo hakuna uhusiano.
Black American men have bigger problems. Most have criminal records and as a result can’t find work. There is a role reversal. You find men being left taking care of the kids as women have 3 jobs usually the men end up abusing the kids and women coz leaving a man with young kids some not his own is tough.
The criminal record bit is true, but being unable to find work is more of an attitude of the mind, than the unwillingness of employers to help. It’s true they’ll be asked to go to a clinic and do a urine drug test for mundane jobs, but anyone who is serious can get some form of genuine work in malls, warehouses, and landscaping jobs. How come black immigrant men from the Caribbean islands and Africa come to their country and succeed, yet they’re the same skin colour, and what those guys call ‘an accent’? The truth is that most of those guys would not go to school, or even work at a McDonalds or Starbucks, but would rather hang out with the gang in the hood coz of peer pressure.
