Today in history

On this very day in 2005, Kenya ratified the Rome Statute, the founding treaty of the ICC.
This allowed the court jurisdiction over war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide committed by nationals of Kenya, or on Kenyan territory after July 1, 2002 – the date that the Rome Statute came into force.
