To village mechanics and others in the know

Somebody’s jalopy can’t start. Its a 1.6ltr engine with a carburetor. Spark-check, fuel flow-check, the problem is that its not sucking air by the carburetor.

Thought it is flooded but when u cover the carb it’s pushing air out instead of sucking it.

What could be the cause?

Saidieni plis, nearest mech ard 10km away.

Kama spark iko ,timing ya distributer sawa tafuta makanika mzae

Loosing compression, check for leaking gaskets.
Ukiangalia the carburetor how is the floater mechanism behaving,
I know how to tinker a carb but I lack the words to helep you.

you got a major valve or timing issue. the wrong valve is open when the piston goes up or the valve is open at the wrong time if its a two valve per cylinder.

There’s the screw for adjusting how much air is coming in. Check that it’s not tightened all the way in.
