These 2 Movies

Talkers who’ve watched Johnny Mad Dog and Beasts of No Nation, what’s your take. Mine…JMD was more believable but failed to raise the political angle to all of our beautiful continent’s conflicts. BONN came accross as a vanity flick. It’s taken them this long to realeise that the West sponsors all of our strife

@Deorro if you thought “Mr. robot” is the isht try “CSI: CYBER” …em niggz can even hack your dreams :D:D:D:D

I like both but beasts of no nation is more realistic and the acting is superb but it is kind of sad as it shows the real effects of war in Africa

You’ll have to note that BONN is based on a fictional novel written by the son of a former finance minister of Nigeria as his Harvard thesis. This is how he sought to represent the continent abroad, which I find a bit sad. IMO you will never find a Japanese student writing on how they f’d up majorly with regard to the nuclear catastrophe that occured as a result of the Fukushima Daishi plant imploding.

To the average viewer, these are both the same movie. Can’t hollywood make a move about Africa that isn’t about poverty/war/political conflict?

Exactly. Half of a Yellow Sun was good but set against the backdrop of civil strife. Blood Diamond…let me not even start. Apart from Bones and There’s a Zulu on My Stoep I keep thinking there’s no feel-good or normal African flick

However, playing the devil’s advocate here, most films are adapted from already existing literature. Do we have any truthfully ‘feel good’ good literature?

Poverty?

Not really. Those guys werent poor. Its just a different way of life for them.

I’m speaking about perception. But I get where your coming from.
