There Is No Loyalty in Politics, Just Self-Interest

I’m suprised that a seasoned politician like Ruto couldn’t predict that a time will come when his “brother” Uhuru would betray him?

Maybe he did, but it seems he wasn’t well-prepared now that he’s running out of options.

Even if Ruto has majority of Jubilee mps and senators, it’s just a matter of time before they switch sides.

You see, they’re not loyal to Ruto but loyal to their own self-interest. For them to be in Ruto’s camp, he must offer something in return. It could be money, a govt position or protection.

But Ruto couldn’t protect Waititu, Echesa, Sonko and now his closest ally, Murkomen. Of course, Murkomen will remain loyal to Ruto because if he switched sides, his supporters (the Kalenjins) will vote him out.

On the other hand, do you think Mt. Kenya leaders who don’t support Ruto will be voted out? Naaaah! That is unlikely!!!

There are no consequences for not supporting Ruto if you are not from Rift Valley.

Actually, from a politician’s perspective, you will be assured of enough money, gov’t position and protection if you support Uhuru.

Besides that, it’s the president who controls the government machinery and IEBC. If you go insulting him in public, there will be consequences.

It’s a game of chess!

Your logic is simplistic and pedestrian. How will Uhuru pass bills in parliament?

A tiger does not change his stripes. During the euphoria ya Jubilee with the matching shirts watu walisema atarukwa and were dismissed as waiting for the hand to fall. But if he didn’t know atarukwa kipetero, the meeting at Bomas was a sure sign that mambo yameporomoka.

he has the support of ODM Mps and A huge number of Jubilee Mps,
Ruto’s mps are not a majority …

Support will a tit-for-tat affair now. It will not be easy. You saw ODM MPs the other day. Uhuru is a man who has never left state house since election. Everybody knows he has no ground support

This bold move by his exellency the president has made us many Agikuyu love him yet, again.

It could get to a point where fanatic kalenjin Ruto supporters feel the need to demonstrate consequences of Ruto betrayal, by killing and burning a few kiuks in RV.

Those crazyies can do such stuff even without Rutos blessing and Ruto will automatically be blamed and Konyagi and his thugs will have an opportunity to deal with Ruto

Ruto doesn’t have the numbers, except for Rift Valley mps.

Right now, Uhuru is isolating mps and senators who are loyal to Ruto and using state machinery to change their loyalty.

What do you think today’s meeting in state house was all about?

Nilikataza kalejingas kutoka kitambo waache kujipiga vifua na hawakuskia.

You are mistaken , Uhuru is not looking for votes or support.
he just wants to finish Ruto, Uhuru has the state machinery for the next 2 years… tanga tanga supporters don’t get this… they think they matter.

A combined vote of Kalenjins and Kikuyus will not make Ruto pres… State machinery support is needed.

In all this hullabaloo what is Uhuru really gaining by betraying Ruto ?

what is ruto gaining by going against the pres?/

There is nothing brilliant in Uhurus shenanigans. I do not see how he gains any influence by this. What will be his influence after he leaves office?

Business interests. You need people in power to enact favorable polices, expand to other countries, control imports, divert and align government investments to your own private interests, assurances that someone will not come after anything looted,to Uhuru Ruto isn’t that person.

Uhuru is simply rudisharing mkono like Moi did to him

Ruto was playing boss more than the boss himself before 2017 elections. Uhuru’s ego, he can’t let that slide.

Also, Uhuru, Gideon Moi and Raila come from dynasties and consider themselves higher above the rest.

They can’t accept a man from Sugoi whose father was a nobody to control more wealth than them.

Ruto was acquring wealth too fast through dubious means, and that was a big threat. No way Ruto can become bigger than them.

Why cant all these fuckers die once and for all? Wametuchafulia nchi

you are not alone

politics is a checkers game.
Leadership is won by pleasing the peasants or the nobles and to keep the leadership one must be Machiavellian in nature- you must use deception.
Ruto pissed off the nobles by acquiring wealth by unequivocal ways-the the oligarchs are always threatened when somebody acquires wealth from unclear circumstances, it means competition.

Ruto had support from the peasants but the oligarchs smeared him with corruption allegations, associated him with corrupt persons…etc. If Ruto was smart, he could have played the victim. Discard your association with the corrupt individuals even if it means airing their dirty linens in the public. The goal is to have the peasants remain sympathetic.

Ruto is going down and he will need to use an avalanche of strategies to win.

A day in politics…
