The Weakness of democracy

Most of the people support democracy and even praise and quote US as one of the best form of government. But in reality i see democracy as the worst form of government. It is based on populism. How many people can you please and lie to to get elected even if you are incompetent and have no policies at all. Surprised why sonko, joho are winning in Kenya, racist Trump in US, Boriss Johnson in UK and many others. Simply because of populism. China might not have the best form of goverment because of censorship and human rights issues but it merit based system ensures experienced learned leaders rise to the top. This partly explains why China leadership is dominated by scientists and intellectuals who have dedicated their energy towards science and research and infrastructure projects. Here Kenya we have drunkards drug dealers and thieves at the top coz of democracy and populusm and probably we will see many. In western countries populist candidates with no practical experience and leadership intellect rise to the top. It won’t be even a surprise if someone like JayZ become a president in US. Maybe we need a new political system that promotes meritocracy and intellect and at the same time gathers for human rights

No chills huh

That is one result of democracy… Populism leading to ethnic wars

No it’s tribal chieftains expunging those they consider madoadoa, a local model of Feudalism.
You cannot spin everything bruh, not here at least.

How did those tribal chieftains rise to power if not by democracy where they were voted by people like you and me. It is democracy don’t run away from it

They rose to power by answering to their chieftains, those who resisted were buried and that was their end.
The serfs which is the class majority of Kenyans belong to have yet to see through the iebc sham, we do not have democracy.
We are given a semblance of a voting process but as Stalin once said, those who vote do not matter as those who count.
Your move

Who voted most of these mps who are beating war drums in kenya? Do you want to say all of them rigged themselves in? It is certainly Kenyans. And who voted the racist spewing Trump and Borris Johnson. Do you want to say they rigged themselves again in? It is people facilitated by democracy. That is what you get by the so hyped democracy. You even need money to run the campaign or funding from some businesses that have an interest in government tenders and favours. That is what democracy for you

In an age where populism is on the rise, democracy needs to be put under a microscope yet what’s the alternative

Communism only works in China, failed in all countries that tried it,even the Soviets couldn’t do it.

There are places democracy still works, its those places that should be used as guides Look at Germany, Angela Merkel has led that country for years and the Germans always vote for her.

Maybe cause Merkel got there by accident and became such a good angel… Just like the case of Kibaki in Kenya. Now think of the mps and the next likely leader after Merkel there. Think if Rwanda could vote without Kagame rising via military, would he have been chosen. I can guarantee you a thousand times NO. I think China does not practice communism as such… Maybe coz it is only one party state… That is why the name. They call themselves socialism with chinese characteristics… But my interest is their way of leadership where leaders rise from the bottom to the top based on merit. It may not be best but it is certainly working.

I tend to fight one battle at a time, the issue was the P. E. V church massacre.
You say it’s a result of democracy, I argue it is a modern form of Feudalism.
Let’s stick to it, it’s widely accepted the 07/08 p.e.v violence was due to a sham election.
So it definitely wasn’t democracy at play there was it?

But who the key inciters of the violence if not the leaders such as MCAs Mps etc elected by Kenyans via democracy

You forget that the US and most other long lived democracies have had their fair share of decent leaders, before Trump it was Obama, before the Brexit PM’s it was Cameron a mix good, decent and trash you just weather the storm cause you know its not forever but China is one leader away from a civil war, only a few number of people control that country they’ve had continuous good will leaders since Mao but tomorrow’s leader could be the next Hitler.Don’t forget that China has only been at peace since 1949 the country has a long long history of civil war

Their overlords, feudalism works in terms of one lord using multiple vassals I. E the mcas and mps

But who elects these mps and MCAs who are controlled by those lords if not people via democracy

I have not said china system is perfect or good but i said if it can be made to introduce checks and balances, guard human rights and continue with meritocracy characteristics then it is the best system

I think the answer you seek is in your question.
The terms in the parties/vassals of the overlords bind the independent mca, mp into toeing the line.
I don’t think Kenya has ever had a fully fledged democratic political society, so judging it prematurely is a little harsh and uncalled for.

What do you need to have a fully fledged democratic society… If democracy facilitates such vassals or the overloads to exist and wreak havoc… If democracy was good as a system itself… Then it should prune such things from never taking root in its system

For Kenya political case. The system was set-up from Jomo and effected by Moi. So we have a system for more than 50 years that has looted our taxes and we as voters expect new blood to change the system by voting them in. :D:D Good luck because the system is fuccked

For the same reason I wed, to have checks and balances in my affairs.
Consolidation of power is a dangerous concept if a selfish person is at the helm.
Democracy is a direct affront on the old world order of monarchies, feudalism, colonies and their high handed administration.
Do you understand why your rights are YOUR rights?
