The Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) has announced the onset of rains accompanied by thunderstorms across various regions of the country from today, December 11, through December 20, 2025.
According to the agency’s bulletin, periods of rainfall with thunderstorms are expected in the Lake Victoria Basin, the Western Zone and the Southern Highlands. Some parts of the northern coast and the north-eastern highlands will experience light rainfall.
In the Lake Victoria Zone — covering the regions of Kagera, Geita, Shinyanga, Mwanza, Simiyu and Mara — isolated thunderstorms are forecast.
In the North-Eastern Highlands, which include Arusha, Manyara and Kilimanjaro, light rainfall is expected in a few areas.
The Northern Coast — comprising Tanga, northern Morogoro, Pwani and Dar es Salaam, along with the islands of Unguja and Pemba — is also expected to receive rainfall in isolated areas.
