The reality of crippling and endemic poverty in Kenya

Stupid selfish leaders. The reason why Cameroon oil deals had to be revised.

Wakighula upfront, wanaacha anything be signed on contracts. Anyway, we are more than able to be self sufficient. Cdfs get millions per constiuncy but the pigs just take the lionshare. Just like mcas…

Shida ni mkenya is greedy af

Stupidity and ignorance.

Shida si leaders shida ni watu. Hakuna mahali watu wako na akili wanongozwa na mafala and hakuna mahali mafala wanaongozwa na watu wenye wana akili.

The same leaders come from the populace.

Most kenyans are laughable. Kama watoto wanakua mca that tells you something. How does a 24 y/o know what ails a 37 y/o’s life? And first, huyo mtoto ameenda apo ju ya pesa… I’m in between those two ages na hakuna vile i can vote for or listen to a child.

Anyway hakuna child mca ashawai fanya kitu ya maana

LOL…nyani haoni kundule. I would argue that you are also projecting your ideas of decent living on me because you disagreed with my perspective outright.

If you were as rational as you think you are, you would have asked me to define “decent living” first before disagreeing.

I read statistics somewhere that half of all Americans are rent-burdened!!

Being rent-burdened means that they spend more than 30% of their income on housing. The data for Kenya is probably similar or worse.

So mimi huangalia say a big apartment block in a place like Roysambu with 100 apartments. Hapo najua landlord/lady is garnishing 30% of those people’s paychecks. Halafu naangalia taxes naona the landlord pays 7.5% (reduced from 10%) while the peasant paying him rent pays 30% PAYE and more taxes are underway via the Finance Bill. That’s where inequality starts through a system that favors owners of capital.

The poorer you are, the more taxes you pay as a proportion of your income, the more expensive your cost of living is as a proportion of your income, and the harder it is to escape from the treadmill. That gentlemen, is why most (not all) people who are born poor live poor and die poor.

It is a lot harder to escape from poverty than most people think, especially the middle and upper classes. One mistake like having a kid when you live in peasantville seals your fate, unless you are among the tiny percentage of lucky, smart, or disciplined people who can still manage to turn such bad odds to their favor.

There is a difference between absolute poverty and relative poverty. In US kuna relative, kenya kuna absolute.

True. But even relative poverty is almost as bad. That guy sleeping outside during winter with nothing to eat is in a very bad spot too. Umaskini yote ni mbaya gathee.
