The Political Fortunes Of Gatundu's Moses Kuria Are Adding Up Quickly.....

Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria shared a video of some offices of what most presume to be his new party after falling out with PEP officials.
In a video shared on his Facebook account on Saturday, July 24, Kuria seemed to have settled for Chama Cha Kazi as his party of choice ahead of the 2022 General Election. The video showed that the party had gone above and beyond to open offices in major counties across the country. It is not exactly clear why Kuria abandoned the People’s Empowerment Party’s (PEP) but various reports claimed that the party had kicked him out.

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei asked DP Ruto to select Moses Kuria as his running mate for the 2022 General Election on Saturday, July 24.
Kuria has been at the forefront of opposing the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) constitutional amendment drive while executing an agenda to cement Ruto in Central Kenya. While persuading the residents of Nandi to register as voters,Cherargei declared that Kuria had proven his loyalty to Deputy President Ruto. Cherargei added that Kuria had been there through the toughest of situations.

According to Cherargei, this justifies Kuria as the best possible candidate Ruto could align himself with for his presidential bid.
"We have seen how Kuria has been fighting for Ruto through thick and thin and his constant support to Ruto, which indicates that he is the best for his position,’ reiterated Cherargei. However, Kuria asserted that he would not join the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) despite his unequivocal support for the DP’s 2022 presidential bid. Following the retreat, Murang’a Senator Irungu Kangata lauded him adding that his move was for the greater good.

Earlier this year, Kuria’s former party, the People’s Empowerment Party (PEP), was identified as a Hustler Nation partner, acting as a proxy for DP Ruto’s UDA in the vote-rich Mt. Kenya region. The party was allegedly curated to popularize Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid in Central Kenya.
In May 2021, PEP clinched victory in the Juja Parliamentary Seat by-election which analysts called ‘unlikely’. This is because Jubilee Party suffered a setback in its perceived stronghold as its candidate, Peter Thinji lost to George Koimburi of PEP.

On Monday, May 24, Kuria announced that he would withdraw his party’s candidates from contesting in the Kiambaa by-elections.
This was after he allegedly had talks with Deputy President William Ruto in a move that would have favoured UDA in the polls.

However, PEP national chairman Watson Simiyu announced that indeed a fallout with Kuria ensued due to disagreements in issues of rebranding. This led to the dismissal of the latter on July 23. The Gatundu South MP allegedly wanted PEP to change its name to Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) and its slogan tailored to fit DP Ruto’s ‘Hustler Nation’ spirit.

Moses Kuria is a loose cannon.

Question is if you put them side by side, who would win more votes. Kuria vs Ruto.

Amefukuzwa tena

Wsr would win more votes.

In Rift Valley, yes.

Hehehe ile story ya two tribes enjoying leadership about to be resurrected

Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday, August 5, threw shade on Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria after he skipped the DP’s Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting. Speaking at Ruto’s Karen residence, Garissa MP Aden Duale had initially declined to comment on the question posed by a journalist who had asked about the ongoing wrangles between the People’s Empowerment Party (PEP) and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

The journalist posed as to whether Kuria, who is perceived as PEP de-factor Party Leader, had skipped the PG because of internal differences over control of the vote-rich Mount Kenya region.

“The members sitting behind me are members of UDA. We are in Jubilee normally but the current and the future party is UDA, so any other party we will not discuss other parties,” he stated.

However, as Duale awaited the next question, Ruto whispered to Duale and the conversation was picked by a hot mic and verified by the Kenyans.co.ke team.

“Tell them that the only PEP MP who belongs to the hustler nation (George) Koimburi is here,”
Ruto could be heard through the hot mic as the camera drifted to the two politicians.

“Just before you ask, on PEP, the only member of PEP who is a hustler from the hustler nation is here and is part of our PG meeting,” Duale referenced the question which he had initially dismissed.

Efforts by Kenyans.co.ke to reach Kuria for comment were futile as he did not respond to our calls or texts.
The discomfort between PEP and Ruto’s UDA has been ongoing with the majority questioning the lawmaker’s loyalty to the party.

This saw a back and forth with both parties fielding candidates in various by-elections which caused wrangles amongst them. The Gatundu South MP sponsored Koimburi through his PEP and won the Juja by-elections by a landslide.
Kuria however, withdrew his candidate from the Kiambaa by-elections to support UDA’s John Wanjiku.

Jubilee Vice-Chairman David Murathe

The question on loyalty was also addressed by Jubilee vice-chairman David Murathe who alleged that Kuria’s heart was with the team associated with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“Kuria talks with them during the day and then come to us at night, even yesterday he kept pleading with me,” Murathe stated during a meeting in Murang’a County on Wednesday, August 4. :D:D

The Gatundu South MP, in apparent defiance, recently asked Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata to inform Ruto that the Mt Kenya region was willing to support his presidency but on condition that they are allowed to organize themselves in their own party.

sasa huyo simiyu na hiyo PEP yake wanaenda wapi. Some people are extremely confused crratures. Now PEP joins the list of thousands of parties that exist only on paper.

Hapo moses anatupa mbao, we need national leaders, sio tribal kingpins

The Service Party of Kenya (TSP) party leader Mwangi Kiunjuri on Sunday, August 8, differed with Deputy President William Ruto over the DP’s 2022 strategy. Kiunjuri faulted Ruto for insinuating that he did not need coalitions ahead of the August 2022 poll. The former Agriculture CS dismissed the Deputy President’s plan to make the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) a national party that would win the 2022 election without relying on regional parties.

The former CS opined that political parties in Kenya are primarily regional parties that come together to form a national party.
“Nobody can boast in this country that he or she has a national party. They are all regional parties first trying to become national parties,” Kiunjuri stated.

In remarks targeting Ruto, the TSP party leader also warned politicians of trying to take advantage of the ongoing disunity in the Mount Kenya region to try and get the region’s vote without involving the leaders.

Kiunjuri affirmed that there were efforts to unite leaders from the region in a bid to secure a unified vote despite their current political inclinations.
He revealed that all party leaders from the region would hold discussions on forming a coalition for the Mt. Kenya region.
“In the next one month or two months, we shall be sitting together as people of the Mount Kenya region as leaders of parties,” Kiunjuri reiterated.
The TSP party leader stated that the region would always vote as one block.
His comments were triggered by statements made by the DP during an interview with Inooro TV on Wednesday, August 4. Ruto had stated that, unlike his rivals who were coming together to form coalitions, his party did not have to form coalitions with anyone as it was already a national party.

“Our coalition (UDA) is for all Kenyans. So we do not need any alliance, we do not need any coalition because our outfit is already a coalition for all the people of Kenya,” Kenya’s second in command stated during the interview.
The comments rubbed off on Kiunjuri and Gatundu South Legislator Moses Kuria who seek to popularize their parties in the region. Kuria was absent in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) parliamentary group meeting on Thursday, August 5.
In addition, a proposal to have all parties allied to UDA collapse and join the outfit ahead of 2022 has caused a rift in the Ruto camp.

If kiunjuri and moses kuria are not content with joining UDA as individuals, let them do a coalition or coalitions with odm, OKA, or go back to the dead Jubilee. Wajinga wameisha mt Kenya region. We will not be used by these people again. Lazima tujikomboe kutoka kwa ukoloni mamboleo. RUTO TOSHA 2O22. Hatubanduki. DYNASTIES must FALL.

These r selfish leaders

Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has clarified his relationship with Deputy President William Ruto after speculations were rife that the two were on the verge of parting ways. Speaking at Kinamba trading Centre in Ng’arua division of Laikipia County on Sunday, August 8, the legislator downplayed his decision to skip a Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting hosted by Ruto at the DP’s Karen residence on August 5.

The MP added that his relationship had not deteriorated contrary to press reports which indicated that the two had clashed over Kuria’s failure to join the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

“Everyone should know that my choice of the presidential candidate for the 2022 general elections is the Deputy President,” he told the gathering.

“You guys know that I am a supporter of the hustler, I am a staunch supporter”, the MP added.
Kuria, however, warned his colleagues and the electorate against joining Ruto’s UDA.

“Women do not burn down their beds when they leave their parents’ home and get married. One will always regret when coming back where they belong, after being knocked out of the home of an unwanted host,” the vocal politician warned.

The DP had taken a swipe at Kuria for missing the Karen meeting on Thursday, August 5, with the legislator having opted to attend other matters.
“Tell them that the only PEP MP who belongs to the hustler nation (George) Koimburi is here,” Ruto was heard instructing Duale after a question on Kuria’s absence.

The Gatundu South MP later revealed that he skipped Ruto’s meeting to attend a meeting of the National Assembly Implementation Committee to deliberate on measures of ensuring the completion of the Ronald Ngala Tourism College.
Kuria has been marketing his own party, the Chama Cha Kazi Party after he lost control of the People’s Empowerment Party (PEP).
He is also a perceived contender for the position of Ruto’s running mate which is dominated by Mt Kenya politicians including TSP Party Leader Mwangi Kiunjuri and Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua.

Kiunjuri and Kuria are right. Each region wajipange with their own party then they form pre election coalitions.

And all those struggles ni kwamba “wanatupenda sana Wananchi and they always think about Country wellbeing”

A storm is brewing in Deputy President William Ruto’s camp over a push for the DP to enter into coalition agreements with affiliated parties in the race for State House.

Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri’s The Service Party (TSP) and Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria’s People’s Empowerment Party (PEP) are affiliated to the DP and have indicated that while they back Dr Ruto for the top job in 2022, they will not fold their outfits.
But leaders allied to the DP-linked United Democratic Alliance (UDA) say that demands for a coalition with the DP were premature and that the leaders should instead disband their outfits and join the re-branded party.

“Some of us strongly believe that forming a regional party purportedly to negotiate with DP Ruto is irrational; it does not make sense. We, as UDA, cannot talk of coalitions now. For me, coalitions should be post-election.

“But that does not mean we are not amenable to talks now. But what we know is we are not seeking a coalition or a regional party, we are building UDA,” Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata said on Sunday.
Mr Kang’ata, a key ally of the DP in Mt Kenya, said regional parties were a bad idea.
“I am aware of some Mt Kenya leaders saying they want a regional party. We from Murang’a do not subscribe to that. We want a unified party that brings everyone together to bring up all the people at the bottom of the pyramid, and that party is UDA,” added Mr Kang’ata.
Though the DP has shown signs of dropping his hard stance on building a national party, he has insisted that his Hustler Nation troops were enough to send him to State House next year, with no need for a coalition.

“I am not looking for any alliance with anybody. We have millions of hustlers behind our quest, and those people – the grocers, the boda boda, and the small business owners – will take us to State House,” the DP said in an interview recently.

National party
Mr Kiunjuri has said the notion by Mr Kang’ata that theirs are regional parties was misplaced.
“Nobody can boast in this country that they have a national party. They are first of all regional parties,” said Mr Kiunjuri over the weekend.

“It is only a fool who will go into 2022 to be subjected to the tricks that happen during the nominations, where people were literally plucked out of the contest not by the power of the voters but by personalities seated in an office,” Mr Kiunjuri said in a previous interview.
Speaking in Kinamba in Laikipia on Sunday, Mr Kuria, whose PEP candidate George Koimburi won the Juja parliamentary by-election in May, said he was still fully behind Dr Ruto.
Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen said UDA’s focus is to build itself. “Our focus now is on building this new party, but we cannot block anybody from supporting the DP. We are not in a fight… but we will try as much as possible to get people to support us and the DP’s presidential bid,” Mr Murkomen said in a previous interview.

Hapo ni kweli,

Ruto is very smart. Brilliantly played so far. We will see how he fairs in the long run

 1. He is avoiding declaring a running mate too early would alienate a section of voters plus it would be quite difficult changing the running mate should matters change down the line. It would be smarter to let the ‘kingpins’ fight amongst themselves then get into a coalition with a clear leader.
 2. By letting people join his party rather than merge with other parties to create a party with a new identity, it sets the tone of who is the alpha in the relationship.

Ruto’s arrogance will pull him down so fast.
saying he does not need coalitions will be his end. But it’s not a mere coincidence, he is very selfish as a person.

it will be hard convincing all politicians competing for a local seat in Mt Kenya to join UDA, huko things don’t work like that.
kwanza nominations are the biggest problem, knowing the nature of ruto, he would want to handpick his candidates.

Moses Kuria is right.
