Hon: Kalonzo Musyoka.
The attempted sale of key public infrastructure , including the JKIA and the Kenya Pipeline , alongside moves to privatize essential government services such as education , is deeply unacceptable.
These measures are often justified as solutions to Kenya’s mounting debt crisis, yet they transfer public assets and services into private hands rather than addressing the root causes of fiscal mismanagement.
- Reckless borrowing
- Opaque supplementary budgets
- High foreign debt servicing costs
All these have created pressure to monetize public assets.
But selling or privatizing essential infrastructure and services undermines national sovereignty, compromises social rights, and places long-term burdens on citizens instead of providing sustainable solutions to the debt challenge.
Now more than ever, we NEED TO CHALLENGE THE STATUS QUO.
