The only reason a section of Kenyans wish so badly to be made the next Deputy President is simply because they want to be like Ruto. They presume that the office of the Deputy President will always be as powerful as that of the current. Let me make it clear that the DP’s office, from 2022 onwards, will be the most useless portfolio ever. No future president, whether it will be Ruto or Raila or those that will come after, will let an alpha, energetic and ambitious person of Ruto’s calibre to occupy such an office again. CS for interior or finance will be more powerful that DP. The fact that Uhuru has already set a precedent will go a long way in changing the power dynamics of the presidency and his relation to the deputy.

Baba and Ruto are playing at the same level right now… and neither will win without some other force being applied… and that other force is what they are banking on… the system is the other force and they have been on it from 2018 with DCI, EACC, KRA and ODPP “wakicheza kama wao”!
Gideon will not bring any kalenjin votes to baba and then he will loose kikuyu and kamba votes. Not even system’s rigging can fix that
Kalonzo, Ngilu are already inside Baba’s camp and Masai and others in RV are also with Baba… Kikuyu’s will not turn out to vote as they have done in the past, so Ruto cannot rely on the numbers that used to be there… Nairobi has many Baba diehards and these will turnout in huge numbers… GM does not have to bring any votes to make Baba win and the plan for this is not to bring Baba votes but is the main succession game… And then, there are too many games that might be at play behind the scenes, I bet… What if WSR is taken to ICC from Gicheru’s case?
If Gideon is DP then it doesn’t matter what speculation, behind the scenes games or who’s inside baba’s camp they won’t hold any weight. Kalonzo being Raila’s DP is better Atleast he would bring solid kamba votes
