You can’t know for sure how they make money, but there are many ways apart from selling ads. There was a time when it was discovered that uTorrent had secretly bundled a bitcoin miner with their popular bit torrent client. So mtu anajua anaitumia for free but kumbe kwa background he’s mining bitcoins on behalf of the company.
Halafu hizi sites kama 123 nashuku there are some legit companies, eg Netflix, Amazon or even film distributors, that pay chini ya maji for statistics on viewing habits. Vitu kama most watched movies, most searched, most requested etc. These legit companies then use the info to update their own databases.
