Prophecy;
John De Mathew Family has continued to release the songs that the Benga Star had recorded before his death. The latest one titled “Wa-Matha”, loosely translated as “My brother” or “My mother’s son”.
The song is heavy with inner Kikuyu Lingua, sayings and proverbs. In his signature style, the song is heavily spiritual. It has borrowed heavily from the native Kikuyu Religious Culture, and the modern Christianity.
In the song, John calls his friend, Uhuru Kenyatta to act and end graft in his Government. He reminds him who he is, and that Ruriri looks upto him. He is specific that President Kenyatta is held captive by promises and friendship he made on his way to power.
At a closer look, De Mathew calls out on Preseident Kenyatta to drop DP Ruto and his wing of Government. He tells them that at times,betrayal is a necessary evil,especially if the pact is headed for the worst.
He says, “Ona Mwana uri ihu ni eyauragwo mundu ahote guithara hiti, na mundu aumira,akera ngai amuohere”. ( Even a child in the womb is at times flashed off to allow one run from danger, and once the dust settled,you ask God for forgiveness).
John further alerts the President that the people he trusted and thought were brothers are out to fight him, destroy his legacy and name. He notes that their greed has pushed them to inherit him when they are alive. In a particular shot, he tell the President that his own people have been turned against him,and one day,they will stone him.
He asks him to pull out the sword, signature of power and control.
Concluding, he tells President Kenyatta to push away corrupt people in his Government, starting with his DP. He terms the regime as “Ikumbi riri gathua”. A granary invaded by termites. Too much work, but zero results as a result of corruption!
