Alafu pale Iten imekaribia 2450m…na hapo ndio runners wanaishi…elgeyo marakwet kwa kina murkomen ni around 2900m. …and thats where lots of kalenjin runners come from
Timboroa town altitude is 2,760m ASL which is the same as dundori, Kinare, soko mjinga, flyover. Iten town in 2,300m asl, lakini kina ainabkoi, kipkabus, chepkorio are about 2600 m asl. You are right that huko marakwet kwa murkomen huko kapsowar is 2,400, cheptongei village kwa kina slay queen Donald Kipkorir ni 2400, lakini huko kaptalamwa, makutano ni 2,900m asl. Kamelei, emboebur huko marakwet are 3,300 m ASL.
I wanted to include the major towns or trading centers people are familiar with. Otherwise in nyandarua places like mirangine, tumaini, boiman, kwa lord, ngano etc are at 2,700+m asl which is the same altitude as huko marakwet.
Yes. People like Douglas Wakiihuri, Catherine Ndereba, Samuel Wanjiru are great athletes who came from areas like nyahururu. So yes kikuyus can do it again because they have done it in the past and their counties have the right high altitude for athletics. So vijana in mt kenya wawachane na kanusu, keg na jaba waingie training in the villages.
The late Samuel Wanjiru was born in Nyahururu and is regarded as Kenya’s greatest marathon runner. Wanjiru became the first Kenyan to win an Olympic gold medal in the marathon. He won the Olympic gold in 2008 in Beijing, China.
Julius Kariuki was born in Nyahururu and is the man who broke the Olympic 3000 metres steeplechase record during the Seoul Olympics in 1988. Kariuki’s long standing record was broken by Conselsus Kipruto during the Rio Olympics in 2016.
Catherine Ndereba was born in Nyeri and is one of Kenya’s finest athletes. She has won the Boston and Chicago marathons as well as a gold medal in world championships. Ndereba is also a two-time silver medalist in the marathon at the Olympics.
.
Douglas Wakiihuri is a former Kenyan long-distance runner, who won the gold medal in the marathon at the 1987 World Championships in Athletics in Rome. No other male Kenyan runner had ever won the marathon at World Championships or Olympic Games until 2007, when Luke Kibet became a world champion. wakiihuri also won the London marathon in 1989.
So you want me to include Mt Kenya which is 5,000+m ASL and Aberdares 4,000+ M asl? FYI cheranganyi town is 1920m ASL nearly the same as Naivasha at 1900m asl. Though cheranganyi hills are higher.
Why are you insisting on a few spots like cherangany hills na timboroa and i have already told you they are same altitude with kinare, fly over, dundori etc at about 2,700m?
Usisahau south Pokot mahali hupandwa waru, pyrethrum na cabbages. Mifugo ni pure exotic breeds na Merino sheep. Mahindi huchukua 2 years to mature.
Tapach kwa akina @Gaza na Tecla Loroupe alt. ni 3,300masl.
