Five years ago, Dan was a guy that was going places. He was a skilled capenter, and was always coming up with the most interesting of designs. More than that, he was a jack of all trades. He was a mason and a carpenter rolled into one. He had one weakness though: booze. His breath constantly smelled of booze, albeit faintly.
I met Dan today. He strongly reeked of alcohol. He is a shell of his former self. His eyes were red, and farther back in his head. His skin looked bad, and his frame thinner. He wasn’t his outgoing self anymore. His manner was not altogether cold, but he was a little quiet. Standoffish, even.
As I assisted him with some repairs, I noticed something. One of his fingers was missing. He kept placing his hand out of view. I guess it had become instinctive.
Out of politeness I pretended not to notice, but eventually the intrigue became too much.
“What happened to your finger?” I asked him.
At that point, he visibly loosened up and explained how his finger got grinded in the workshop. I didn’t press further. After that he became his charming self again.
I can’t tell for sure what happened, but I’m certain alcohol played a role in his little mishap.
Like I’ve always said, the evidence left behind of alcohol’s ravaging fury is fearful to look at. Broken relationships, physical trauma, and in some cases, death.
Used to work in a company that had some giant shears for cutting aluminum sheets used in ads, the fellows who use to use this thing were always high , this was when even kiosks were selling those makalis in plastic sachets, this fools instead of eating during lunch they would suck on this things and later go and operate this giant shears .Anyway the inevitable happened and a fool lost his fingers !!
Alcohol isn’t that evil as you folks purport it to be.
When taken in moderation and in sensible quantities, it is but just a way of passing time and a form of leisure Albeit when involved in work it’s bound to cause a certain degree of chaos especially in Fields where sobriety is paramount.
A talker engaging in a conversation with @Cross Fire alias @Tauren whose matako was raped hard at school is the first step of sympathising with lgbt community.
