The folly of democracy and why we ain't in the same league with Ethiopia

Two African countries which have undergone
serious conflict in the recent past and are now
doing well in terms of economic growth and lower corruption rates are Ethiopia and Rwanda.

Is it a coincidence that both, especially Rwanda, are highly disciplined and place severe restrictions on political and media freedom?

What are you implying? That dictatorship is good for economic growth? That is a fallacy as we have more examples against than for this argument.

Yet thousands of Ethiopians are heading to SA.

And as usual the grass is always greener on the other side.

How about those Ethiopians that are always arrested in various parts of the country sneaking in illegally into Kenya? Usiangalie tu Addis Ababa, Ethiopia has a lot of problems that you’ll never hear about due to a highly restrictive press environment.

Libya during Gaddafi’s long dictatorial rein was way ahead of many African countries.
Most of the North African countries including Egypt don’t practice democracy the way we want to do it here. You can never achieve anything as a country when every person with some influence opposes any government initiative.
African countries can’t cope with Western type democracy.

This guy is trying to make Ethiopia and Rwanda look utopian. They are not as perfect as he makes them look.

Ethiopia has one of the lowest rates of access to modern energy services, its energy supply is primarily based on biomass. In 2009, less than 10% of Ethiopians had access to electricity. In 2013, only 23% have access to electricity

what about countries like libya:they didnt have the so called democracy during gadaffis time they used to live better than any other country.literacy level was high, doctors to patient ratio was second in the world and many more look at it now!is it better now?how about rwanda they sat on the fence and let kagame fight his own war now are the loudest asking him to step aside.we have to look at things from abroader perspective not using pedestrian arguments!the so called democractic countries are more than150 years since independence.it will take us along time to establish insitutions which will make sure that the so called democracy is not misused.it will take us to make sure everybody has areasoning capacity even if h/she reaches acertain level of education by changing our curriculum.so pliz talkers let us not compare ourselves with the so called developed countri and stop displaying idi amins brains here(mint more money if the central bank does not have money.

The clean streets of Kigali and modern railway system in Addis = Overall prosperity which are positive outcome of undemocratic nations can the same be said of countries in eastern Europe?

Those countries are not perfect and Libya is just an exception. What did the dictatorship under Moi give this country? High number of slums, bad roads, dirty cities etc. I prefer what we have here and Kagame finds it easy to govern Rwanda because it is a much smaller country whose citizens are not very exposed. The same tactics cannot work in Kenya.

There is a reason Kenya is Still numero uno in East and central africa

Someone kindly educate me on the type and level of democracy existing in the Asian Tigers and China.
Are we better than them with all our democracy?
What do Kenyans do with all the freedom they want and get?

wat am trying to say is that the so called developed world should only intervene when its absolutely neccessary eg in casexof burundi, somali, south sudan and many more.instead of trying to distabilize astable country like libya, iraq, siria etc,in the name of removing dictators.mbona hawaingilii mugambe?simply coz they know hakuna kitu watapata!but ithink anyway some human races have a unique way of seeing things.thats why we kill each other for someone to become apresident and after that kesho unaniomba wheelbarrow.

Bob con me more alluded to the same in an interview with one of the local stations at first i was offended but after thinking about it to some extent it makes sense.

Instead of arguing back and forth, someone provide a list of the world’s 20 or 30 most economically developed nations, and count the number of those led by dictators vis a vis those governed by democracy
