In the battle of Hosingow, an Al-Shabaab stronghold then, 2 Companies (80 -*2 soldiers) of the Kenya Defense Forces 3-Kenya Rifles supported by dozens of Rangers were ambushed at their new camp exactly at 2100hrs EAT by over 1000 Al-Shabaab terrorists.
Outnumbered & outgunned The less than 160 Kenyan soldiers fired over 7600 bullets in 12hrs killing 800 Al Shabaab militants. The brave soldiers nearly ran out of bullets. Air support from their Air-Cavalry ended the siege at 9.00hrs the following day.
In the end the Kenya army had to call for mechanized help from African Union Forces AMISOM to burry the over 800 killed terrorists.

KDF Kills 52-Al-Shabaab In Hosingow, KDF & 3 TFG Dead.
Kenya Defense Forces came under mortar and artillery attack from resurgent Al-Shabaab troops in their base in Hosingow town in Lower Juba Somalia.
Heavy artillerly fired from Al-Shabaab positions was neutralized and machine gun posts on mounted vehicles used by Al-Shabaab were destroyed by KDF.
52 Al-Shabaab troops were killed while 2-Kenyan soldiers and 3-TFG troops were killed though the intelligence report on KDF causalities is yet to be confirmed.
Ras-Kamboni militia backed by TFG and KDF fought with Al-Shabaab for about 4-hours in what could be a turning point to KDF which feels uncomfortable in AMISOM rules.
According to intelligence reports, KDF feels threatened and its gains might be lost along under AMISOM since they cannot operate based on the previous engagement principals.
4-hours of battle with a militia is very disturbing owing to the fact KDF has superior and more sophisticated firepower against the Al-Shabaab and such a development is a sign of flaws in the AMISOM setup.
Al-Shabaab had claimed to have shot down a KDF fighter plane and took over Hosingow but the reports were denied by TFG spokesperson Mohamed Dahir Farah, who confirmed Hosingow was under KDF/TFG/Ras-Kamboni militia and that 52-Al-Shabaab were killed in the fierce fight.

Those gallant soldiers deserve a pay hike, mwalimu na karau wakae kando.
Hehehe, usione KDF hivi hivi
Kuna 30th SOF na 40th Kenya Rangers Strike Force, Army na Clearance Diving Unit (sort of seals), Navy
Whatever that blog writes take with a huge dose of salt
So which is which, 800 or 52? Either way, I hope KDF did not suffer many losses and kudos to the brave soldiers.
KDF sio mchezo, no wonder they are rarely ambushed like their counterparts. What they need to work on is their CQB skills, their failures in Garissa and Westgate were stark
Salute, dear soldiers!
