Since coming back home, I have been driving around the country without a care to the speed limit, well yesterday my luck ran out. I was driving towards Nairobi from Thika. Past Mang’u school, down Ndarugu river and up the incline to “High point”, I found them waiting eagerly for me. One Wariah cop flagged me down and asked. " Kwa nini unaendesha gari 108 km/hr?" I disputed his allegation.
“Hiyo utasemea Kortini, wapi license?” Luckily I had just renewed my licence a few days before. He told me I had to pay an instant 5000 cash bail. I duly requested him to provide me with the Mpesa number.
“Hii unalipa cash, hakuna mambo ya mpesa”.
I told him I had no cash on me and he told me my car would be detained until I paid the bail. He looked at me closely and asked " kwani uko na ngapi hapa, harakisha ama ukaelezee mkubwa pale" I told him again I had no cash on me.
“Mwanaume wa aina gani anaendesha gari bila hata mia moja, unafanya kazi gani?”
“Mimi ni mwalimu” I answered without hesitation.
“Unafunza wapi?” I had to think fast.
“Mang’u school”
He laughed out loud and gestured me to drive ahead. I hesitated because I thought he wanted me to park the car. He slapped the car roof and shouted at me. “Nyinyi waalimu uzeeni hizo magari zenu. Ondoa hiyo gari yako hapa” It is then that I realised I had been insulted because of my profession but set free.
Wapi mbisha ya ‘insulted’ ama sketch ya ‘set free’?
hehehe lakini jaribu kua na atleast ka 2K kwa mfuko sio mpesa ukitembea it comes in handy
Hehehe! Jasusi??..!!! Quick thinker.
utapigaje karao picha…hio nikuchokoza nyuki kwanza traffic cop atathani unataka kum expose kwasababu ya kuitisha kitu kidogo

Since then I make sure I am well “armed.” I was very lucky
kwani unaendesha gari gani?
Sasa kujitea itakua mwalimu.:D:D
Haya basi, weka mbisha ya ‘insulted’ ama sketch ya ‘set free’…
It seems it is universally agreed mwalimu huwa msoto
Teachers are some of the most monied folks in machinanis. People would kill to have their daughters married by a teacher juu wanajua mwalimu anaweza pewa loan virahisi. You should hear some peroz announcing to all and sundry that their daughter is married to some teacher at bla bla bla. My uncle has four wives courtesy of this.
Waria wana respect walimu saana. I saw this when in NEP. Teachers would be treated differently. Lakini KDF? HUHUUU!!
Its mostly because they live together either in camps or rental units therefore developing a brotherly bond. In most areas they happen to be the only government workers for kilometers around.
It’s not uncommon to find the DO, DEO The teacher and police living in the same compound
My first journey to NEP. I went to Eastleigh. The best seats were written reserved kwa kitabu. Nika book ya na huko nyuma. But complained to my friend who I was visiting huko Griftu. He told me to go back and tell the cashier of that office to refund my bus fare na nitarudi kufunza next term nikijiskia otherwise sikai nyuma. I have never such golden reaction…oh maalimu maalinu kuja hapa hukusema maalimu kiti yako hii wariah namba tisa itakaa hapa maalimu…
On the travelling day nilikuwa Kama Simba 1 kwa hiyo basi. No one sumbuas maalimu on a journey
Wapi mbicha ya mjengo?
siku hizi walimu wana tupesa si kama siku zetu tukiwa prima na high school
In central its a bit different. I worked there as a teacher. Kila jioni maswali kutoka kwa wana kijiji, “Mwalimu umuthi ni waiga urie mathukuma” (mwalimu leo umesema ukule sukuma wiki?)
I had to walk across the whole shopping center with my shopping feeling embarassed
