Sabina Chebichi in 1973. The racing gear in those days were like sleeping nighties yawa.
She was only 14 years old in this picture. She was dubbed the “Petticoat Princess” because of the cloth in which she raced. Sabina was awarded a pair of spikes, her first as well as shorts and a vest.
She broke African records that year and in 1974 won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth games in Christchurch, New Zealand.
