UNESCO recognizes Kiswahili as an official language of the General Conference

On November 2025, Kiswahili was officially recognized as the seventh language of the UNESCO General Conference.

UNESCO Dar es Salaam Office congratulates the Government and people of the United Republic of Tanzania, BAKITA, BAKIZA, and all partners and stakeholders who have continued contributing to this landmark achievement. The Office reaffirms its commitment to continue supporting initiatives that promote the Kiswahili language, cultural diversity, and the advancement of Africa’s linguistic heritage at national, regional, and global levels.

Tanzania is a useless state. Because they don’t know lahaja za Kiswahili. Neither do they understand what consensus means scientifically. The lahaja chosen for Swahili is kiungunja. Before Kenya 2010 constitution they were not pushing anything. It’s Kenya which has done more for Swahili as they delude themselves they are Arabs, a faction which actually contributes only 16% of loan words which unfortunately have their standardized bantu Swahili equivalent
