From July 2024 to March 2025, Tanzania’s State Mining Corporation (STAMICO) produced a total of 208,866.05 tonnes of coal at the Kabulo – Kiwira project.
Out of this, 192,141 tonnes were sold, generating TZS 7.84 billion in revenue for STAMICO.
During the same period, a total of TZS 1.46 billion was paid to the government in the form of royalties and various charges.
Breakdown of government payments from the project:
Royalties: TZS 448.5 million
Inspection fees: TZS 163.2 million
Service tax: TZS 19.6 million
Other charges: TZS 833.6 million
This project reflects the government’s commitment to boosting mineral production while ensuring transparency and fair revenue distribution from natural resources.
