Arusha RC Paul Christian Makonda today witnessed the signing of contracts for the construction of:
A Machinga (informal traders) market in Morombo
Arusha City Club Stadium in Murieti Ward
Makonda emphasized that the projects align with the CCM Manifesto and are part of the 6th Phase Government’s commitment under President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
He noted that funds for the market were allocated in 2021 from central government, not local council:
“I told city leaders—this market must be built this year. Today we deliver on that promise so citizens can soon benefit.”
City Director John Kayombo shared details:
The new stadium will cost TZS 9.6 billion
Seating capacity: 8,000 spectators
Includes courts for netball, basketball, and tennis
Builder: STC Construction Company Ltd
The stadium will:
Nurture local sports talent
Generate revenue for Arusha City
Promote youth and community engagement
The Machinga market will cost TZS 710 million and will be constructed by SUMA JKT Construction Company Ltd—empowering traders with modern, safe spaces.
These projects demonstrate the government’s resolve to improve urban infrastructure and support economic and social development at the local level.
