Tanzania Is The Only East African Country That Has Never Replaced It's Constitution Since 1977

In 1977 Tanganyika and Zanzibar merged and this led to the enactment of a new constitution and the formation of CCM party.

This new constitution made Tanzania a one party socialist state and consolidated power in the office of the President. Even though the constitution was ammended in 1992 to allow for multipartism, TZ still remains by de facto a despotic one party state.

In Tanzania the President has so much powers that he can detain individuals INDEFINITELY WITHOUT TRIAL through the Prevention Dentention Act of 1962 - take note of the year! (1962).
