I was getting 11-13 kmpl before
I started using Shell synthetic oil and my dudu suddenly gives 18-20km for long distance non-stop commutes in both flat and hilly roads even with quick acceleration and revving up to 3-4.5k rpm in some instances
a journey that used to cost 4200 is now at under 3k
Is there a correlation ama I am just being a more fuel efficient driver?
How much was it? A car performs well and uses less fuel immediately after service. After a few weeks the oil is already degraded and you are back to usual consumption. For pricing reasons most oils on sale are a mixture that ages quickly or are more viscous than recommended. Good performance can only be maintained with expensive oil. Fully synthetic oil for a modern car, which is w30 or less viscous, at shell, goes for 6k to7k for 5 litres if it’s available at all. Most people run the cheapest oils.
Honda 5W-30 synthetic oil goes for 4k for the 5 litres at Honda dealer.
That’s affordable, but most are used to the ones going for 2300 or 1900 at shell.
SHELL HELIX ULTRA 5w40 ndio nilitumia … I doubt imepita 45200 for 4L
It’s 9k+ miles
I noticed the improved economy after using the oil for some time
saa hii its almost 4000kms later
mineral oils are cheaper but you have to change after 5k with new filters
ukichange twice, it roughly the same price as longer-range shell and total synthentics
Your cars recommended oil is probably 5w30. That’s where the price jumps if you use a truly full synthetic.
Alot of modern engines use a form of variable valve timing system to modulate intake and exhaust valves. These systems rely on hydraulic solenoids that use engine oil and the type plus condition of the oil is important
