Initially cost almost 4 times the *srp now it’s free I even feel sorry for them. But hands down its a safe & comfortable ride. & best of all no rowdy conductors or loud music
Hehehe, this is like your dealer allowing you to snort cocaine free of charge.Once you’re hooked kitaeleweka. Corporations are more organized than the chokosh matatu drivers and conductors. Once they push the riff raff out, they’ll form a cartel. So bado tutadinywa tuu, but in a more organized manner.
The problem with matatus is that close to one-third of the income disappears into channels that add no value to the service. These include theft by crew, extortion from saccos and mungikis, and bribes to traffic police. Without these leakages, they could offer better value to their customers. Any player who can avoid this wastage will certainly gain a market foothold.
Very true but Uber & Taxify are gonna introduce theirs too. Also note the BRT buses are in the horizon. That would shift the market structure from a “monopolist competition” to a “perfect competition”. Either way we’d soon see the death of Matatus & the cartels that run them. The market will now be controlled by the forces of demand & supply
