I think you should balance so that you get to enjoy life as it is a short life but also save for a rainy day.
I disagree with the idea of working my ass off primarily to save so much wealth for my kids to inherit. I would rather give them good education and whatever else I can to make them self-reliant and capable of creating their own wealth as opposed to lazing around waiting for inheritance from me. In this case, whatever inheritance they receive from me will just be a bonus to add onto the wealth they have created themselves.
Your thread only confirms that you haven’ got money yet. There are very many ways of achieving happiness , money is the least of all, but presumed to be at the top.

Think of this as a game for control.
