Yeah, I was so damn excited when she won. There’s a point I think 2nd episode after the merge, I started getting strong winner vibes from her. Happy for her. Sadly, even though she is Canadian, the USA will want to tax most of that win. She will likely end up with about 550,00 USD, which is still a pretty neat amount to win for playing a fun game.

In my state, if you earn say $100k, kila tax ikitolewa, you are left with $72k. I have never given much thought about lottery winnings per se.
Yeah state taxes differ. Butthe federal taxes are uniform across board (unless you have fancy accountants). Generally the higher the income the higher the tax rate by the time you are reaching a mil, the federal taxes have reached the highest tax rate.
Anyway, the US and Canada have several taxation treaties, so I am sure she can recoup some of what Uncle Sam took, if she bothers to that is. It never crosses most people’s minds that they are entitled to tax refunds. Though I’m sure “Survivor” will have a financial team to advise her.
