Good one. Keep us posted. Been looking through these myself:
:D:D:D:D
You most likely use the same in maintaining a quarter acre compound, factor in the cost of keeping it green, employing a gardener or houseboy to do all the dirty work etc
,Without adding the cost of paying Securicor or KK a minimum of 6k a month, a cost you share in an apartment. In fact, most apartment pay the higher tarrif that allows them to have 24 hour security while the 6k bundle only gives you the red button to press.
People forget that building a detached house in Nairobi, often means living far far away from the city.Because land for a house close to the city is either
a)too expensive, Land in Kilimani and Kileleshwa .Duuuh!!
b) you will build a detached house, only to end up with apartments or commercial buildings as your neighbor.I say this from personal experience in Westlands.
c)The 5k-10k maintenance fee is more or less the same amount you spend paying the gardener to maintain the garden including the cost of feeding and housing him.
d) In fact, apartments are more secure as security is shared and they have 24 hour guards, which few people with detached houses can afford.
e)Apartments in Nairobi are strategic. How man people here who live in detached houses can claim they use 4 to 5k in fuel in a month going to work or pay sh 20 to go to town(Westlands Parklands residents) in the morning and sh 30 in the evening???And have access to all the entertainment zones in the city??(Add Kilimani,Kileleshwa residents here)
Anyone who uses fuel ya 5k a month doesn’t have a life.
My take.
Not if the likes of BrewBristo, Privee and 3/4 of all the top entertainment spots in Nairobi are within 5 km of your house.(Consider, the CBD is 3 km from Westlands)
I can assure you, the people who do not have a life are those who use 30k a month on fuel and have built a house in the middle of the Athi Plains in Kitengela. They spend much of life on traffic jams and their areas are not only lonely, but often, risky.
this will be me soon. can’t wait!
