Strange Observation Among Apartment Buyers

Sometimes on Sunday afternoons, I buy a newspaper and read it while watching the property show. One thing I have noticed about those people who buy apartments, is that they dont desire to retire in those apartments…which is natural. Since the largest investment that most people make in their life is buying/building a house, I wonder why a person would buy an apartment knowing well that they do not prefer to retire there. Doesn’t it make more sense renting the apartment while building your retirement home with the cash? I just dont get the logic why someone would buy an apartment to live in, knowing well that he/she still has another capital intensive goal to achieve which is to build a home with its own compound.

The other way round, people who had money in the eighties and built houses are the ones buying apartments near shopping malls. It is very lonely in a huge house alone without kids or some noise.

I agree. Buying an apartment with millions and then you end up paying apartment maintainance fee of around 5-10k a month. Makes no no sense

Hehehehehe. Makes a lot of sense.

I am actually contemplating purchasing an apartment. My reasons are that I don’t want to pay rent and I want to be in a secure area with fellow human beings at this age. A place with good internet facilities, reliable water and electricity. When I build my house and move in I will just rent it out and get money to do something else.

Investment ni ngumu but kila mtu na sumu yake what works for you wont work for me and vice versa chagua sumu yako wisely

A colleague moved from Muthaiga on a half acre to an apartment in Kile. Reason - her huzzy travels a lot and it’s lonely.

Did she buy the apartment or rent it? That is the question. To me, since I only need to invest in one house to retire in, it never makes sense to me to own the apartment…renting is enough since I will not stay there forever.

Hehehee. Nakuona

It’s theirs, they own it. They were renting the apartment at 65k and the Muthaiga home is fetching 200k/month. Although she made it clear they moved coz of being alone as huzy pilots dreamliners

The high end ones have elevators. An old relative is also contemplating selling her Buru house to move into an apartment on Msa Road. She is 73.

Si she buys a dog.

hana vijukuu awaachie hiyo nyumba? or she can rent it out instead of selling

Anao. Alitoka majuu juzi akasema hiyo sio Buru aliacha 20 years ago. Maringo mob tu.

The huzzy got his job after buying the muthaiga house ama?

1/2 an acre muthaiga house for 200k only, a month? Total hogwash maybe those quarter acres in muthaiga North right after rock city.

An aunt sold her house in Embakasi and relocated to Ruai, the most foolish decision imo, she never informed even her kids of the decision.
